Cosmo stands very small on the stone floor, facing a vast glowing window — and the figure rendered in glass, lit from behind, is Nova. He came to see a famous window. He found a portrait of his friend turned into light. The cathedral's twist is tender: Cosmo is not being made small by the grand window. He is being lifted by it. To stand before a great image of someone you love is to be reminded that they are larger and steadier than your worst days, and that some of that steadiness is, quietly, for you. The window glows.
