CRYSTAL CAVERN — FLOATING FACETS, EACH HOLDING A REFLECTION. Cosmo stands on a ledge looking up at Nova, and all around them the pastel crystals hold copies — Cosmo here looking brave, Cosmo there looking lost, a dozen Cosmos, each one undeniably him. He wants to know which crystal is telling the truth. Trick question. They all are. Every facet caught a real angle of a real person from a real moment. The cavern is not lying to him in eleven directions. It is doing the honest, dizzying thing a person almost never gets to see: showing him that 'himself' was never one fixed face.
