The carousel won't hold still for one. "Time is the image of eternity." — Plato (d. 348 BCE) 🔮 THE PLOT TWIST: INT. GALLERY WALL — A GOLD BYZANTINE MOSAIC, A CAROUSEL GLOWING THROUGH A DOORWAY. Cosmo and Nova float beside a mosaic of robed saints, each tile placed to outlast empires. Through the doorway behind them, a carousel turns, bright and impermanent and joyful. Cosmo glances between the two and feels the tension: the mosaic is eternity, fixed, solemn; the carousel is time, spinning, fleeting. But the mosaic is built of thousands of tiny tiles, and the carousel is built of one repeating turn — and both are how a small piece becomes something whole. One assembles in space. One assembles in time. Neither is more sacred.
