The four stand among globes and an armillary sphere; an open star-chart book lies on the floor, faceup. Cosmo reaches for the telescope, sure that knowing the cosmos means pressing one eye to the lens, alone. But the chart is on the floor, not the shelf — placed where four people can crouch around it together. The observatory makes its cosmological point without a word: the universe is too large for one eye. The telescope shows you a pinprick; the shared chart shows you how the pinpricks connect.
