Cosmo stands at the mirror, and his helmetless reflection is raising a hand toward him. The twist is the direction of the gesture. A mirror is supposed to only copy — you wave, it waves. But this reflection moves first, or seems to: the unguarded inner self lifting a hand in greeting, as if it has been waiting on the far side of the glass to be acknowledged. Cosmo did not come to inspect himself. He came, without quite knowing it, to be met. And the part of him he keeps behind the helmet has, very patiently, raised its hand to say: I have been here the whole time.
