INK-WASH MOUNTAINS — A RIVER LABELLED PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE. Cosmo walks the winding bank. He keeps glancing upstream at PAST and downstream at FUTURE, sure that the important water is anywhere but underfoot. The twist is the labelling itself: PAST and FUTURE are written on the riverbank — dry land, signposts, ideas. Only PRESENT is written on the water. The river is, has only ever been, the part touching his boots right now. 💡 THE INSIGHT: Past and future are signs you read.
