Cosmo reaches up to a giant astrolabe; Stella bends to a telescope; Nova floats inside an armillary ring, ringed by the heavens themselves. Three tools for the same enormous subject. Pascal admitted the infinite spaces frightened him — and the observatory does not argue. Instead it answers the fright with company. The astrolabe measures, the telescope sees, the armillary models; alone, each is a small defense against a very large dark. Together, three friends working three instruments, the silence stops being terrifying and starts being a thing you can study. The dome did not shrink the cosmos.
