Cosmo and Stella stand among armillary spheres taller than they are; Nova floats near. Through the dome, the real night sky. Inside the dome, brass rings modelling that exact sky in miniature. Cosmo walks between the two — the infinite cosmos overhead, and the human-made cage of rings claiming to describe it. The Cybernetic Baroque universe is honest about the gap: the spheres do not contain the heavens. They are a language for the heavens, a grammar of brass rings. And like any good language, their entire value is that they let a small mind say true things about an unsayably large subject. 💡 THE INSIGHT: We can't hold the sky, so we build a grammar for it.
