BAROQUE THEATRE STAGE — RED VELVET CURTAINS, GOLD CHERUBS, A MELTING CLOCK, MASKED AUDIENCE. Cosmo stands centre-stage in the mist. The twist is the melting clock above him. Out in the ordinary world, time is rigid — it ticks, it pushes, it never lets a moment sit still long enough to be felt. But this is a dream-stage, and here the clock has gone soft, draping over the proscenium like warm wax. On this stage Cosmo is not being hurried. The melted clock is permission: for the length of this scene, the moment will not be rushed off.
