Cosmo stands inside the glowing frame, working marionette strings, and on the screen behind him his shadows take the shape of characters — a small cast, dancing. He could pretend the shadows act on their own. The lamps will not let him: every motion on the backdrop runs straight up a string to his own hand. The frame asks the oldest ethical question, gently — not 'are you in control?' but 'do you admit that you are?' A shadow that knows it is a shadow can be guided kindly.
